New Layout!
So excited Blogger has some cool layouts now!! I have been messing around and decided on this one for now. What do you think?? I'm not sure about the picture I used in the header. It's a picture from a recent "photoshoot" with Sadie...but she looks kind of sad in it haha. Maybe I'm just overanalyzing. Let me know what you think! I am currently working on my photography blog, too, so I will let you know when that's up and running! Hope everyone is having a good weekend :)

Smarty Pants
Sometimes Sadie is too smart for her own good. Her newest “trick”? She knows where I keep her treats — on the top shelf of a bookcase in my room. Since we’re staying with family right now, I just have one room. I have some treats in the pantry, but Sadie has a lot of treats. I know...bad. But they’re from Christmas mainly, and they last a long time. I don’t give her too many. Anyway, now she knows where they are...so every time she comes into my room. She will sit at the foot of the bookcase and quickly glance up at the treats and back to me. It’s actually pretty funny. It’s like she’s trying to be subtle about it, but it’s quite obvious what she is doing. I have to see if I can get it on camera sometimes. But because it’s so darn cute, I’m usually forced to give her a treat...after I stop laughing of course. Oh these corgis, they keep us on our toes, don’t they??
By the way...I am thinking of starting a photography blog to post all the miscellaneous pictures I take with my new camera. Sadie is the main focus of my photography, but I’m trying to branch out as well so I can truly master my new camera. I will post a link to the blog once I get it all set up. I hope you’ll check it out!
Have a great weekend!

Attitude Adjustment
I need some advice!
When Sadie and I lived in Boston, she would sometimes bark at certain dogs during our walks. One in particular she really hated. (All the dogs in the neighborhood barked at him though.) Usually she would just bark at them if they were across the street. If they were on our side of the street, she would cry and want to say hello. I got her to stop barking for the most part by making her sit down when she started freaking out.
Since moving to NY, this has gotten worse. Especially after she was attacked at the dog park. Now, she barks at pretty much EVERY dog in our neighborhood. And she doesn’t just bark, she freaks out. She sounds REALLY vicious, too. I think most people assume she is mean and wants to attack their dog (which I really don’t think she ever would do). Her bark is truly bigger than her bite. One time she actually got loose and ran up to one dog, but didn’t do anything. She just ran around the poor dog, barking at him haha. There are still a few dogs she that she doesn’t bark at; she’ll just cry, which means she wants to say hello. I just don’t get it.
I have a few theories. She is maybe just traumatized from the attack. And just extra defensive now. She’s not aggressive at the dog park. I keep her in the small dog area now, though. So that might be why. She tends to only bark at bigger dogs. I’m not quite sure what she would do on the big dog side anymore, and I don’t want to find out.
Or, she feels like she needs to protect more people now, as we live with my aunt and uncle. Before it was just Sadie and me...so maybe now that she has more humans to protect, she’s just doing her job?? We also live in a house now, as opposed to an apartment building. So that might have something to do with it??
I don’t know...but if you have any thoughts or suggestions on how to make her stop barking like this, I would appreciate it!

Cocoa Butter Lotion
Quick question for everyone...I know I posted previously about the fact that Sadie loves to lick me after I put on lotion. She also licks wherever I was sitting as I applied it (usually the bed). But, I just bought some Cocoa Butter lotion, and have been using it for a few days. I am wondering if this could be potentially bad for her because of the cocoa??? Does anyone know? I will stop using it immediately if that is the case, because there's no way I can get her to stop licking! Let me know what you think. I'm wondering if I should stick to a certain kind of lotion if she is going to be licking it. I don't want to risk anything. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks!

Photography Suggestions
So, as you all know, I have been playing with a new DSLR camera...but I don't know WHAT to take pictures of right now. Clearly Sadie is my number one model, but I want to get more experience with the camera and take some awesome pictures. I'm just not sure where to start...Maybe when the weather gets nicer (which it is starting to, yay!), I will be able to explore more and take some more scenic photos. Anyway, wondering if you have any suggestions?? I know some of you also have DSLRs and like to take photos, so I'd love to hear your thoughts.
I do plan on going into Manhattan one of these days and taking photos there...that will be fun! Thanks for the help! :)

Attention Whore
Sadie is a typical only child. (I should know...I’m an only child, too!) I never wanted siblings growing up, and I’m pretty sure Sadie doesn’t want any either. I think about one day getting another dog, to keep her company. But honestly, I don’t think she would have any part of it. See, my Sadie is quite the attention whore. And it’s not just me that she wants attention from...it’s anyone within a 10 mile radius! Case in point, we go to the dog park...where is Sadie? Playing with other dogs? No! She’s sniffing all the humans and shaking her little butt, trying to look cute (doesn’t take much!) so they will pet her. Oh, and they pet her. She’s got the cuteness drill down. She knows exactly what to do, and it always seems to work. She would do this to strangers on the street when we lived in Boston. She has no shame. Oh, and god forbid they stop petting her! This is a big no-no in Sadie’s book, and she lets you know...by nudging your hand incessantly until you start petting her again! Do your dogs do this? She’s pretty forceful, too! When we’re at home, she’s even worse, because she knows my aunt, uncle, and I will pet her. She generally goes from one person to the next, getting her fill of love and belly rubs. It’s pretty cute, really.
And if she’s not getting attention? She lets us all know! If I come home and do something other than pay 100% attention to her (say, I talk to my aunt or uncle), Sadie starts howling. She’s like, “Excuseeeeee me! Remember me down here???” Better yet...if I’m on the phone or watching TV and not paying attention to her, her new trick is to find her squeaky ball and squeak it incessantly. Can we say spoiled??? It’s rather amusing, and people I talk to on the phone have gotten used to it now and just think it’s Sadie’s way of saying hello. Little do they know that it’s really her way of saying, “Mommmmmmmmmm!!!! Get off the phone and play with me!!!”
She’s lucky she’s so darn cute.

Spring Has Sprung!
Even though Sadie loves the snow, she also loves the sun. So when the sun finally decided to come out this weekend, we took full advantage of it! On Saturday, we went to the dog park. It was too funny though, because I told Sadie we would go, and she wouldn’t stop crying until we left. She is too smart sometimes! We got there, and it was packed!! Everyone else clearly had the same idea as we did. Unfortunately a lot of the small dog section was filled with mud. And even more unfortunately, Sadie ALWAYS has to go in the puddles. She’s a brat about it, too. She will look right at me as she does it. It’s like she’s trying to say, “HAHA what are you gonna do???” So that was fun. I kept her away from them as much as possible, but she got a bit messy. Being so close to the ground doesn’t help haha. She chased some dogs and ran around and was completely exhausted when I got home, which was good because I went out to dinner with a friend. We were going to see Alice in Wonderland, but it was all sold out :( Maybe next weekend.
Then, on Sunday, Sadie was being very annoying. She was whining and crying, and I didn’t know what the problem was...well, turns out she just wanted to be outside. I’m pretty sure she assumed we were going to the dog park. Nice weather = dog park. Right, momma? I didn’t want to go back to the muddy park, so instead, I sat on the front steps and read a book while Sadie basked in the sun on the grass. Apparently that was all she wanted, because she stopped whining immediately and just watched everything going on around her. We have a glass door in front of our front door, so we sometimes leave the door open so she can look through the window...but that just wasn’t cutting it yesterday. She needed to be out there!
We had a routine in Boston when the weather was nice on the weekends. We’d either walk to the dog park with our neighbors, or we’d go on a long walk around the neighborhood. We had a park nearby (not a dog park), and Sadie always enjoyed saying hello to everyone. On the hot days over the summer, Sadie would usually get too hot and lay down on the ground and refuse to walk more. That was always fun haha. Luckily, I discovered these small fountains at a nearby museum, and stopping there became part of our walk. Sadie loved walking through them to cool off! No one ever yelled at us, so we kept doing it haha.
