Separation Anxiety

I have been posting a lot lately! Hope you all don't mind :) You'll get a mini break from my rambling starting tomorrow. Which brings me to this post...

I am leaving tomorrow to go to Florida for my 10 year high school reunion (which is why I was on a weight loss mission for the past several months and lost 45 pounds!). I will be there until Monday afternoon. This means I have to leave Sadie here in NY with my aunt and uncle (who she loves!). But, I still have to LEAVE her. Which kills me. She guilt trips me, and just looks so pathetic when I leave, which breaks my heart.

The suitcase has come out, and she knows something is going on. I feel horrible leaving her, but it's great to know that she will be in good hands! I wish I could bring her with me everywhere though :) Hope everyone has a great weekend, and we'll see you again here next week!

  1. Aww. Whiskey gives me the same pathetic sad looking face too. Congrats on the weight loss (not that you needed it) What high school neck of the woods you going to be in? I always get excited when I see FL mentioned.

  2. you go girl! you'll be smashing at your high school reunion!! that is awesome with your weight loss! have a good time at the reunion. I know it is hard to leave them (heck I get nervous when I'm away from Koda for 5-6 hours). She'll do just fine and although she will miss you at least she is in very capable loving hands!

  3. awww, I know how hard it is to leave the fur baby behind. Whenever we leave town, Bailey goes to my sister in law's. She loves it there. They have a dog named Lucky...and Bailey loves to play with Lucky. So whenever we leave, Bailey basically couldn't care less...My heart is breaking, but the puppy is fine LOL
However, when we come home she gets super excited to see us.
So, that will be something to look forward to for you and Sadie..how happy she will be when you return...:-)

Congrats on the weight loss. I recently lost 43lbs too :-) However, I am not even close to being down. I am loving the energy I have now though

  4. Aww she will be ok. I'm sure she'll have a great time w/your aunt & uncle!

Have a good time at your reunion! Mine was a few weeks ago, and it was.... weird :) I basically clung to my husband and best friends for dear life. But it was fun, since awkwardness lead to me drinking way more than I should have and getting silly hehehe.

  5. Awwww have a great time at the reunion! When we had to leave Toby this past summer, we made sure to sleep in an old ratty tee-shirt that we could leave for him to sleep with, kinda silly I know, but it seemed to help. :)

  6. I picked up a book on corgi basics right before we brought Amy home and in the section on boarding, going away, and separation anxiety, it read something to the effect of, "Your puppy will look really sad when you leave, but as soon as they realize the person you left them with has a cookie, they will have a new friend for life and won't even notice you leaving."

Have fun in FL! My husband is trying to convince me I could be separated from my furbaby for a whole week to go to Disney, but I'm not entirely sure he's right. We'd board Amy at her breeder and both her and her breeder would be through the roof with joy, but I'd be missing out on it lol. :)

  7. Katie, thanks! :) My high school was in Parkland, FL. But the reunion was in Hollywood. It was fun!

Thanks, Betty! It was great coming home to Sadie. She was very excited :)

Miriam, congrats on the weight loss, too! I know how hard it is. And yes, it was great coming home to Sadie :)

Kelly, my reunion was pretty much the same haha. Barely talked to anyone, but it was fun. And I drank too much!

Kaly, thanks! Sadie had free reign of my bed and took full advantage of it haha.

Rachel, haha so true! She was fine. I missed her so much though!
